Monairo: keep daily shared spending up to date
Monairo suits a couple who wants to record what happened and see how it affects their shared budget. One person adds a purchase to the household; the other sees it after synchronization. You can keep separate bank accounts and still agree which groceries, household supplies and meals belong in the shared ledger.
For a cash purchase, type the amount, dictate the expense or scan its receipt. Check the amount, currency, merchant and category before saving. With a paid category budget, the capture flow shows the proposed entry's effect on what remains. That is a check while recording spending; it does not block card payments or guarantee a warning before a purchase.
After setup, manual entries can be saved offline and synchronized later. Account setup, live sharing and bank updates need connectivity. Speech recognition depends on the device, language and service, so offline manual entry does not promise offline voice capture. The voice guide explains the review process and its limits.
Quicken Simplifi: connect accounts and plan the month
Simplifi is worth considering if you want your budget alongside bank balances, upcoming bills, savings goals and investment information. Its setup can identify recurring bills and income from downloaded transactions, which you then confirm. This helps build its Spending Plan and projected cash flow. It also supports manual accounts, so connecting a bank is optional. Simplifi setup and tools.
The Spending Plan answers how much of this month's income remains after the items you have allocated. It is distinct from an account balance: Quicken explicitly says existing balances are not included in that calculation. That distinction matters when you have money reserved from earlier months. Spending Plan explanation.
Simplifi also handles cash. Its help guide describes a manual cash account with individual purchases entered against it. A withdrawal can be treated as a transfer between accounts, keeping the movement of money separate from the spending that follows. Cash tracking instructions.
A fictional example: category room versus monthly room
Now consider the wider monthly plan. Suppose expected income is USD 4,200.00, bills are USD 2,600.00, savings contributions are USD 400.00 and the full grocery allocation is USD 500.00. That leaves USD 700.00 before any other planned or unplanned spending. This illustrates the broader allocation question behind Simplifi's Spending Plan; it is not a screenshot or a prediction of an actual account. Calculation components.
Both questions are useful. A grocery category with room left does not establish that the household can afford every other bill. Decide which view you need to check most often, and make sure all relevant spending is included.
Sharing and subscription details to check
Monairo's Solo plan covers one person, Duo covers two and Family covers up to four. Duo and Family give the included household members Pro access. Free capture is limited to three entries a day; budgets and sharing need a paid plan. Eligible store accounts can receive a three-month trial, which renews into the selected subscription unless cancelled. Your store shows the local price and terms. Monairo plans.
Simplifi lets you invite one additional person into its single shareable space. Its current help instructions direct invitees to accept and sign in through the web app; follow that route if the mobile flow asks for a subscription. The same guide says selective sharing of particular accounts or features is not yet available. Review what your partner will see before inviting them. Spaces & Sharing.
Quicken advertises Simplifi with a monthly-equivalent price billed annually. Its introductory offers apply to the first year, and renewal uses the then-current rate. Compare the annual checkout total and renewal terms with Monairo's actual store offer; a promotional monthly figure is not a month-to-month subscription. Current Simplifi offer and billing terms.
